• PHOTOS: ATRA Classics on the Coast Car Show 2013, Part 2

Article and photos by: Glenn Eldridge

On September 7th, the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) and Horsepower for an Hour hosted the "Classics on the Coast" Car Show in downtown Ventura, CA. Working with the city and the Ventura Police Department, Main St. was shut down for several blocks in the old-town section, which is lined with great shops and restaurants.

ATRA had hoped they would raise an awareness for their organization and the over 2,000 the associated shops, with over 40,000 spectators in attendance it's safe to say they achived their goal. ATRA is an International trade association for the professional automatic transmission repair industry. You can learn more by visiting their website - ATRA.com

From a photography point of view (pardon the pun), this was a challenging show to get good photos, not because of lighting or other camera issues. The show had over 40,000 spectators according to Ventura PD and some of the shots take time to setup. Some of these photos were one of many in a series. Ventura hasn't had a Car Show on Main St in over 40-years, ATRA and Horsepower for an Hour blew the roof off this town... perfect location, great weather, and a strong show committee. Our hats are off to the whole team!

So let's check out some photos with many more to follow in Part 3.

We love taking photos of blowers and this show had plenty. How often do you see an old classic like this one with a blower sticking out of its hood?!
This Mustang had some serious meats on the back and a sound system that rocked the block.
    One of those attempts
    I just couldn't get a clear shot

This Chevy II knocked the socks off everyone who walked by, including Ray McClelland (co-host of Car Warriors and CEO of Full Throttle Kustomz). Ray was the Grand Marshall of the day and presented the Ray McClelland award to this beast.

This "Hoods-up" display captures the true qualities found in these beautiful cars.

No matter how close you get to this old Chevy, it's pristine from bumper to bumper!

An award winning '29 Model A truck built by its owner, Johnny Martinez. Watch for a feature article here on AutoAdix.com telling Johnny's incredible story about this car and what he endured to complete "Wicked in Suede."
Johnny also designed and built the Best of Show trophy for the Classics on the Coast Car Show. He's quite a creative guy.

As you could image, the host of Horsepower for an hour, Donny Caccamise has made a ton of friends in the automotive world. There were several cars at this show that he believed were a perfect fit for the show, the Gilmore delivery truck is a prime example. The owners travel from show to show to display this awesome set and is a real crowd pleaser.

Part 3 will be more of a pictorial of the show
